What is ICT4D?
_______________________________________________________________________________

What is ICT4D or ICTD?  There are many possible definitions.  At a very high level it is about using Information Communications Technology (ICT) to accelerate socio-economic growth in support of the Millennium Development Goals, MDG8 specifically.  It is about using technology to help enable the global and local partnerships between civil society, commercial entities, and government that can help foster economic growth.  The ICT4D Academy is one initiative that can help provide some direction towards reaching the Millennium Development Goals

That is an important objective and the strategies and programmes in place to help address this from a strategic, global, and national level need to be understood.  NGOConnect Africa can help NGOs and NGO Supporting Organizations navigate through resources, learn, and engage around technology and its applications.

But how do you as an NGO utilize ICT to become more effective?  How can ICT help you develop a global, national or even local partnership to encourage socio-economic growth in your focus area, in your community?

And what if you are an organization or individual who wants to support the ICT efforts of NGOs?  How do you engage with civil society, other commercial entities, and government to help with this socio economic growth?  You…get involved!  Read more
